This is where you can explore all the amazing places I’ve been and will be soon.
Full Experience
Here are some videos I managed to clean up and turn into decent YouTube documentary. Lots of them are still in my backlog ðŸ˜, so come back later for more stories.
Kitanglad – DulangDulang Traverse
Date: 2019
Location: Malaybalay, Bukidnon, PH
Squad: CeMS (Cebu Mountaineering Society)
Difficulty level: 8/10
In a nutshell: Started off as an easy climb (from jump-off point to Kitanglad peak), escalating into a “do or die” situation on day 2. There was rope rappelling to exit Kitanglad peak, then rope climbing to ascend Dulang-Dulang peak, where there was literally no foothold except for the rope. One mistake or unfortunate rope failure and you’d be tumbling down my death on the rocks below. But I’m able to tell this story today, so “aal iz well” – and I would definitely do it again in a heartbeat!
Tips:
- Bring “winter” gear. You’d be sleeping the first day on Kitanglad peak, and a wise person should never underestimate the cold up there.
- Bring a lightweight bedsheet. There’s a resthouse with bunkers (see video), but you might b unfortunate enough to get the one with uncovered foam. You wouldn’t want to sleep with your skin exposed to that!
Day Trek to Mount Kapayas
Date: 2017 September 17
Location: Catmon, Cebu, PH
Difficulty level: 5/10
Squad: CeMS (Cebu Mountaineering Society)
In a nutshell: Easy trail, astounding top view! This peak is less than a day trek. There are two trails to choose from. We took the long trail here, and it’s not even 4 hours long. This would have been just 3/10, but there’s a bit of rock climbing towards the top. Nothing difficult, but make no mistake: one wrong foot and you’d be rolling down your death (since this is a one huge rock of a mountain). For most mountains, the climb and the peak are equally worth it, but for Mount Kapayas, the peak outweighs the other.
Tips:
- Strapped sandals are okay, but make sure it has good grip. You’ll need it to stay safe while climbing the rock peak.
Travel Nuggets
Small moments of some of my adventures that I found funny, amusing, or wonderful.
Currently, I don’t know where their other parts are. They’re in my many storages somewhere. One day, I’ll find them and share with you the entire story.
Water Slide in Kawasan Falls
Date: 2021
Location: Kawasan Falls, Alegria, Cebu, PH
In a nutshell: If I knew how to swim, I would have joined these guys. It looked so much fun!
I Found Tarzan
Date: 2017
Location: Bacalla Woods, San Fernando, Cebu, PH
In a nutshell: This guy was with a group of amazing people camping on the place while we were there. He captured my attention the most, and this video kind of validated it. I was drawn to his free spirit and way of life. My inner nomad and witch girl longed to be part of his circle.
Cake Delivery …in the Mountains?
Date: 2017
Location: Budlaan Falls, Cebu, PH
In a nutshell: A box of cake in the middle of nowhere? Who would have thought 😂? We were traversing Talamban-Budlaan-Kan-Irag as a fun day hike, with the plan to celebrate one of our friend’s birthday at Kan-Irag peak. One of us thought that a cake is necessary, so there we were, carrying a cake while battling a challenging river trail.
Butterflies in Bantayan Shore
Date: 2017
Location: Bantayan Island, Cebu, PH
In a nutshell: Just checking out one of the many stunning shores of this island, and I was pleasantly surprised by these many butterflies playing around these bushes. There weren’t even flowers around, but there they were, making the place even more magical.
